Confused by how you earn points in bat-O-Matic? Take a look of this example of how Barry Bonds racked up points in a real MLB game.
Bonds finished the game with a total of 9 fantasy points. Here's how he got them:
He hit 1 double (2 points each)
He hit 1 home run (4 points each)
He scored 2 runs (2 points each)
He had a total of 2 RBIs (2 points each)
He drew 1 walk (1 point each)
He struck out 1 time (subtract 1 point)
He made 1 error in the field (subtract 5 points)
So when you combine:
* 2 points for the double (2 total bases, 1 X 2 = 2)
* 4 points for a home run (4 total bases, 1 X 4 = 4)
* 4 points for 2 RBIs (2 X 2 = 4)
* 4 points for 2 runs scored (2 X 2 = 4)
* 1 point for a base on balls (walk 1 X 1)
* minus 1 for the strike out
* minus 5 for committing an error
For this one game, the Bonds received a total of
9 fantasy points.
PEDRO MARTINEZ - PITCHER
Here's how we awarded points to any manager who drafted Pedro Martinez, based on what Pedro did in an actual game.
He pitched a complete game 3-hit shutout for the win and received a total of 64 fantasy points.
He recorded 27 outs (1 point each)
He pitched a complete game (5 points each)
He pitched a shutout (10 points each)
He got credit for the win (5 points each)
He had 12 strikeouts (3 points each)
He gave up 4 total bases (-1 for each single, -2 for each double)
He gave up 0 earned runs = (-1 for each earned run)
He gave up 2 walks = (-3 points each)
He hit a batter = (-4 points each)
He committed one error = (-5 points each)
So when you combine:
* 27 points for 27 outs (1 X 27 = 27)
* 5 points for a complete game (1 X 5 = 5)
* 10 points for a shutout (1 X 10 = 10)
* 5 points for a win (1 X 5 = 5)
* 36 points for 12 strikeouts (3 X 12 = 36)
* minus 4 for hitting a batter.
* minus 4 for total bases.
* minus 5 for committing an error
* minus 6 for 2 walks
For this one game, Pedro received a total of
64 fantasy points.
MARIANO RIVERA - RELIEF PITCHER
Here's how we awarded points to any manager who drafted Mariano Rivera, based on what Rivera did in an actual game.
He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings, struck out 1 and got the save for a total of 15 fantasy points. (Remember, this is just one game. Your score will be two weeks worth of games added together.)
He recorded 5 outs (1 point each)
He struck out 1 batter (3 points each)
He did not get credit for the win (5 points each)
He got credit for the save (10 points each)
He gave up 3 total bases (minus 1 point each)
He gave up no earned runs (minus 1 point each)
He gave up no walks (minus 3 points each)
He did not hit a batter (minus 4 points each)
He did not blow the save (minus 5 points each)
He was not charged with a loss (minus 1 points each)
So when you combine:
* 5 points for 5 outs (1 X 5 = 5)
* 3 points for a strikeout (1 X 3 = 3)
* 10 points for a save
* minus 3 for total bases allowed. He gave up a single (-1) and a double (-2)
For this one game, Rivera received a total of
15 fantasy points.
